What does collaboration offer?

The Collaboration Initiative has been set up to help partners meet their economic development objectives. It can play various roles depending on the depth of collaboration required.

Glasgow Edinburgh collaboration offers;

  • thought leadership: building the evidence base by undertaking and pooling research and gathering intelligence; stimulating and supporting partners and stakeholders to develop new ideas and innovative delivery models

  • a broker/facilitator role: working in partnership with others and helping bring the right people together to discuss opportunities and issues and achieve agreed objectives

  • a role of influencer and catalyst for change: where gaps exist in the activities of other agencies, or there is no obvious convening or organising body for an agreed course of action, GECI can take a lead role in developing new projects and ideas

The Collaboration Initiative will only support activity which genuinely adds value. Collaboration activity should meet the following criteria:

  • additionality (where collaboration helps achieve objectives that either city alone could not achieve alone)
  • appropriateness (where actions are most appropriate to a city/ urban focus)
  • deliverability (realistic and achievable given the resource and timescale available)
  • innovative and far sighted
