Cities targeted for transport investment

The new High Level Output Statement (HLOS) for Scotland’s railways prioritises a number of improvements to the network between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

In addition to completion of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link and the Airdrie-Bathgate restoration, which will provide another link between the cities, the HLOS outlines a number of medium-term priorities for action, including the electrification of the Glasgow-Edinburgh main line, effective rail connections to Edinburgh Airport, and enhanced services on the Glasgow-Edinburgh via Shotts route.
