Cities up for ubanism awards

Glasgow and Edinburgh have been nominated for awards by the Academy of Urbanism.

Edinburgh was nominated as “European City of the Year”, while Glasgow’s Merchant City nominated in the “Great Neighbourhood” category.

Hugh Pearman, writing in the Sunday Times, asked, “do I prefer Edinburgh to Glasgow, which apparently just missed the cut for the city nomination … Perhaps the two great Scottish cities should be considered as one? That will never wash; the rivalry is too intense.” Collaboration still has some way to go, it seems!
